The R train won't cross under the East River until the end of the year, according to the MTA.
Earlier this week, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the R would be restored between Brooklyn and Manhattan by mid-December, but repairs are taking longer than expected.
Electrical components within the tunnel sustained significant salt water damage during Hurricane Sandy.
The MTA said the R in Manhattan will extend from 34th Street-Herald Square to Whitehall Street within two weeks.
