Before food arrives on your Thanksgiving table, there's a good chance it passes through the Hunts Point Produce Market.

The market says it unloaded about 30 million pounds of fruit and vegetables on its busiest day of the year Tuesday.

Vendors say every year's a mad dash.

"We have a need that we satisfy on a regular basis, and a special need that families can be together and can eat fresh fruit and vegetables, eat healthy," said Denise Goodman, a co-owner of the Hunts Point Produce Market.

"Still, all in all, it's an eating holiday for everyone in the tri-state area," said vendor Chris Armata.

Though Hurricane Sandy did cause some canceled orders, the market says it didn't lose power and no produce was lost.
