Some noted authors and artists pitched in Saturday to help the popular Power House Arena bookstore in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, which was damaged by Sandy.

The bookstore received about $75,000 in damage from the storm, according to its owner.

Artists with roots in the area, including author Paul Auster and photographer Todd Muller, came together Saturday to raise money for the store by reading from their works and signing autographs.

They said they the store is a huge part of the neighborhood's character.

The store's owner says it suffered about -thousand dollars worth of damage.
