Police are searching for a man they say tried to rape a woman in Brooklyn.

Investigators say a man walked up next to a 21-year-old woman heading back to her home in Bedford-Stuyvesant early Friday morning.

That's when police say he grabbed her and attempted to rape her.

A passerby stopped him and the suspect ran.

Police say the man is in his 20s and is 6 feet tall and 170 pounds.

He was clean-cut, wearing a black jacket, dark pants and a winter hat with draw strings.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
