New Yorkers are answering the call to assist in relief efforts in Brooklyn.

Organizers of the volunteer coalition dubbed "Occupy Sandy" say about 20,000 people have donated their time over the past two weeks at the Saint Jacobi Church in Sunset Park.

The church is being used as a hub for relief efforts, with volunteers doing everything from helping residents clean up their homes to collecting and distributing supplies.

"We dispatch hundreds of volunteers a day to the affected areas," said community organizer Juan Carlos Ruiz. "We have developed a network, an organic network, with the communities affected."

"We're getting donations from all over," said volunteer Alex Shwarzstein. "I've talked to people as far away as Orlando who sent trucks up here with stuff."

Occupy Sandy organizers say they have also been making hot meals for storm victims and prepare about 20,000 meals a day.
