A former New York City police officer was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Wednesday for strangling his wife to death.
40-year old Eddy Coello was found guilty of second-degree murder last month.
Prosecutors say he killed Tina Adovasio at their Throgs Neck home in March of last year, just weeks after she filed for divorce.
They claim Coello carried his wife's body out of the home in a duffel bag.
Her body was later found dumped off the Taconic Parkway upstate.
Adovasio leaves behind four children, including a 5-year-old daughter with Coello.
