A well-known former New York Yankees player traded his bat for an "ax" on Friday night.
Former center fielder Bernie Williams hit all the right notes at Jazz at Kitano in Murray Hill, Manhattan.
The Gold-Glover-turned jazz aficionado says his headlining quartet came together about a year and a half ago.
"I was fortunate enough to go to a performing arts high school from my freshman to my senior year in high school. And then the Yankee gig came along and I couldn't pass it up, man," Williams said. "It was just a great opportunity, but I always kept playing music."
Williams has been playing guitar since he was eight years old.
