Deputy Chief James Molloy will now run the Queens detective bureau, according to a Wednesday order from Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Molloy was head of ESU when 28-year-old Mohamed Bah was shot and killed by police on September 25 in Harlem.

Police say Bah lunged at them with a knife after they tried to subdue him several times.

Then on October 4, 22-year-old Noel Polanco was shot after being pulled over on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens.

The attorney for the detective who fired the fatal shot says the unarmed Polanco did not put his hands up when ordered.

It is unclear if Molloy's transfer after four years at ESU is a result of those incidents.

The president of the Captains Endowment Association says the transfer is a "step up" and is unrelated to the shootings.
