Three architecture firms are unveiling designs today for a redesigned area around Grand Central Terminal as part of the Municipal Art Society of New York's Summit for New York City.

Skidmore, Owings and Merrill envisions a halo-shaped skyway suspended between two buildings.

Foster and Partners wants to create a pedestrian plaza with sidewalk cafes around the busy commuter hub.

WXY Architecture came up with a High Line-like walkway complete with seasonal grasses.

The city Planning Department has proposed rezoning the area around Grand Central to allow for new office towers.

The process is said to still be in the early stages.
