Rockefeller Center is now home to the city's newest landmark.

The Rainbow Room has been given the distinction after a unanimous vote Tuesday by the city's Landmark Preservation Commission.

The popular supper club opened in October of 1934 atop what was then known as the RCA building.

It's now 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

When the Rainbow Room first opened, formal attire was a requirement, and dinner cost just $3.50.

The club has also been host to charity balls, musical performances and other private events.

It becomes the 115th landmarked interior in the city.

To qualify for interior landmark status a space must be at least 30 years old, architecturally or historically significant and accessible to the public.
