Sentencing will be held next month for a man who pleaded guilty Monday to the murder and rape of an Italian college student in Manhattan last year.

Rita Morelli, 36, who was in the country studying design, was found dead in her East Harlem apartment back in November 2011.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. says Bakary Camara, 42, of the Bronx admitted to raping and stabbing Morelli inside her home after he met her at work.

In a statement, the DA added, "This defendant will be spending significant time in prison for violently taking the life of an innocent college student. I hope today’s convictions will bring some measure of closure to the victim’s family.”

Sentencing is expected to take place on October 30.
