A former manager at the Sept. 11 memorial is suing the organization after he claims he was fired for raising health and security concerns about the facility.
67-year-old Thomas Cancelliere said he told his bosses the water in the memorial's fountains had dangerous bacteria in it.
He also complained the exit gates were too narrow and there was no security at a garage directly below where visitors are screened.
After he continued to press, Cancelliere said he was told he needed to "get along better" with his co-workers.
He was fired two weeks later.
Now, he's suing for damages under the state whistle-blower protection law.
A memorial spokesman said Cancelliere was fired because of his failure to live up to the performance standards of the organization.
He also called Cancelliere's claims "baseless" and said they're being used to try and leverage a big settlement.
