Opponents of NYU's proposed expansion are showing off some star power in the hopes of putting a halt to the project.

Actor-comedian John Leguizamo is one of several people, including residents and business owners, making their plea to stop the expansion.

The videos produced by the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation call for landmark status to be given to the southern end of Greenwich Village.

The group is one of many fighting a plan by the University to build new campus buildings and dorms in the historic neighborhood.

Opponents recently filed suit claiming the city illegally gave away public land to the university.

NYU's president has said the process has been in accordance with the law.
