An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a teen who was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight in the Bronx Monday night.

34-year-old Deshawn Coleman is charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and assault.

Police say 19-year-old Victor Maldonado was trying to stop a fight between two girls in front of 28-05 Heath Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights Monday night when he was shot in the torso.

He was taken to Saint Barnabus Hospital and pronounced dead.

Friends and family gathered at a vigil for Maldonado Tuesday night.

They remembered the teen, who enlisted in the Navy and had dreams of serving his country.

"He was one of the few friends I had that actually graduated high school," said one. "This is just sad how one of my closest friends that influenced me and teached me how to think positive, they just take him like that."

Police say they recovered a gun at the scene.

They say Coleman knew of one of the girls involved in the fight Maldonado was trying to break up.
