Police in Brooklyn got a bit of a surprise of the reptilian kind Monday while carrying out a search warrant.
Officers were looking for guns at the house on West 6th Street in Gravesend when they found an alligator inside.
The illegal pet is now with Animal Care and Control.
Police also found two loaded handguns, a shotgun, prescription pills and marijuana.
Michael Volpe, 32, and his wife Alisa Volpe, 25, are both charged with criminal weapons possession, possession of a controlled substance, and keeping an animal prohibited by the city.
