Authorities were searching Monday for the driver of an SUV who picked up a woman in Manhattan and then tried to abduct her.

State police say the woman waited to get picked up by a friend of a friend on the corner of Dyckman Street and Broadway in Inwood around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The woman got in a white BMW SUV, mistakenly assuming it was her ride.

That is when police say the driver forcibly took her phone and wallet, refused to let her out of the vehicle and headed upstate.

Police say she managed to jump out of the moving vehicle on I-95 in New Rochelle, N.Y.

The suspect did not follow her and she escaped with significant bruises but no serious injuries.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
