Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that they say hit and killed an elderly pedestrian in Manhattan late Friday night.
Investigators say 75-year old Arnold Slater was crossing at 114th Street and Broadway in Morningside Heights just before midnight Friday when he was hit by a black Honda Civic going north on Broadway.
Officials say the car drove off before police arrived.
"We just heard, like, this crazy noise outside," said a witness. "So we go outside to check out what's going on and we basically just see a lot of cops and ambulance. And from far, one of my co-workers said they kind of saw a stretcher coming out and someone being put into it."
Slater was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital.
