A 16-year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with murdering his mother in the Bronx.

Police say they arrested Darwin Jackson, whom they say is the son of 34-year-old Tihesha Savage.

Savage's body was found stuffed in a plastic container at 1460 Macombs Rd in Mt. Eden Wednesday morning.

The gruesome discovery was made by a building superintendent.

NY1 is told Savage also had a daughter and lived with her children at 1447 Macombs Rd.

Police say Savage suffered severe head trauma.

A relative of the victim was inconsolable when she came to the scene Wednesday.

A neighbor described what Savage was like.

"Her daughter went to school right there," he said. "She would come take her daughter, not really talking to too many people. Very quiet person. Sad that it had to happen to her."

Jackson is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and criminal weapons possession.
