As family members mourned a great-grandmother who was stabbed to death at a Saturday memorial service in Canarsie, Brooklyn, police were still investigating her violent death.

Police say a close friend who lived with Cadet found her body in their Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment on September 14.

She had puncture wounds to her neck and torso.

Investigators say there were no signs of forced entry and they had no suspects.

Relatives said 85-year-old Gloria Cadet was a generous, yet quiet woman who mostly kept to herself.

"Turn yourself in, that's all I can say. Basically this person is sick, because an 85-year-old is basically like a baby. She wouldn't harm you," said Patricia Frederic, Cadet's niece.

"It's like you took a big part of this family. She was the glue to this family," said Gloria Oge-Alexis, a granddaughter of Cadet. "My grandmother was my mother's best friend. She used to speak my grandmother four to five times a day. Now I have to keep a close eye on her."

Family members remembered Cadet's kindness and generosity.

"When my mother died, she said, 'Now I am your mother,'" said Wesley Oge, the victim's son-in-law.

"Every single kid that my grandmother took care of, she sent to school. If you didn't learn anything, if you didn't have a career, it was your choice," said Oge-Alexis.

"She was known like 'grandma' around the way. She lived in that area almost 30 years," said Frederic. "You needed something to eat, she gave it to you. You needed something to drink, you needed to make a phone call, she gave it to you."

Cadet is survived by four biological children, three adopted children, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mourners came from as far as Austria and Haiti to attend the service.
