A day after being knocked unconscious while struggling with a homeless man, a New York City Detective is resting at home.

Police say 41-year-old James Griffin was released from the hospital Friday.

Griffin hit his head on a set of tracks Thursday while trying to get an emotionally disturbed person to safety.

Police say 29-year-old Richard Wilcox was lying in the middle of the tracks of a downtown N train in Times Square.

When Griffin tried to pull him up, the two fought.

Other officers jumped and pulled both of them up.

Wilcox was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
