The city is touting a program they say helps keep families from losing their homes.

Officials say they made more than $1.3 million in loans in order to help struggling families avoid foreclosure.

It's all part of the mayor's Mortgage Assistance Program (or MAP), which gives qualified applicants loans of up to $25,000 so they can meet their mortgages.

The city says 63 families have taken advantage of MAP funds.

The highest number of successful applicants were in Queens, which was hit hardest by the housing crisis.

Queens homeowners qualified for more than $390,000 in loans, followed by Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx.

To find out if you qualify for a MAP loan, call 311 or go to www.cnycn.org/map.
