In his weekly address Saturday, President Barack Obama reflected on how far America has come since the September 11th attacks 11 years ago.

Obama said the anniversary is a time to remember the victims, honor the responders and give thanks to the men and women in the military.

He said the attacks brought out the best in Americans.

"Eleven years later, that's the legacy of 9/11 - the ability to say with confidence that no adversary and no act of terrorism can change who we are," he said. "We are Americans and we will protect and preserve this country we love."

Obama said the U.S. has strengthened its alliances around the world since 2001.
