There was a spotlight on workers Saturday at the 130th annual AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade.
Organizers said more than 50,000 people representing some 300 unions were expected to march up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan in honor of working men and women.
The parade's grand marshal was Gary LaBarbera, the president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York.
The parade chairman was Michael Mulgrew, the president of the United Federation of Teachers.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn were also expected to march.
The parade ran along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 66th Street.
