A surveillance video captured the last moments of a gas station clerk's life.

A criminal barges into the booth, gun in hand. Lamin Sillah grabs his wrist and fights to survive.

Sillah's uncle, Alhagie Ebou Cham, is still in shock.

"It's painful," he said.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly described what happened to reporters on Wednesday.

"You can see he stands him up, there's a struggle, he shoots him," Kelly said. "He falls down. He shoots him again twice, goes through his pockets, drags the body out of the office."

It all happened after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Police also provided video of what they say is the two bicycle-riding robbers outside before they stole $30 from one man and attacked Sillah.

The 28-year-old would have celebrated his first wedding anniversary this month. Two months after he was married, Sillah moved from Gambia to the U.S. to study economics at a school in Midtown.

"He was working five days and going to school two days but those two days were double because he was 12 hours a day," Cham said.

Detectives are trying to figure out who took his life. He planned to eventually return to his wife and parents in Gambia.

Police believe the gunman is between the ages of 20 to 25 and 5 feet, 7 inches tall. They say he was wearing a blue New York Giants sweatshirt.

His uncle says breaking the news to family was tough. He had to call his sister in Gambia to tell her what happened to her son.

"It's not easy," he said. "I'm the only one a little strong to take care of everything since this happened. Everyone else is out of almost mind."

Family members are trying to scrape together enough money to send Sillah's remains back to Gambia for burial.

A $12,000 reward is being offered in the case.
