A judge denied Larry Seabrook's request for a new trial Tuesday.
The former city councilman was convicted in July of using taxpayer money to fund his nonprofit organization, while placing his family and friends in no-show jobs.
Seabrook asked for a new trial and an acquittal.
He claimed there were issues with the indictments and insufficient evidence.
But a federal judge says his argument is "without merit" and there was "overwhelming evidence of guilt."
