Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez was censured for sexual harassment last week, but the New York Times reports that State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver settled at least one harassment claim against the leader of the Brooklyn Democratic Party earlier this year.

The Times says that accusation was settled partially with public funds, but it is not clear how many accusers were involved, or how much money was paid.

Silver censured Lopez on Friday for sexually harassing two female staffers.

Lopez was stripped of many privileges, removed as the powerful chairman of the Assembly's committee on housing, and he was barred from having any interns or staffers under the age of 21.

Senator Charles Schumer became on Saturday the most prominent elected official calling for Lopez to resign.
