Tennis pro Rafael Nadal will not be playing in this year's U.S. Open because of a knee injury.
It will be the first time Nadal has skipped the tournament.
He broke the news on Twitter Wednesday morning, saying, "I am very sad to announce that I am not ready to play the U.S. Open in New York. Thanks to my fans for their support and especially, the New Yorkers."
The 11-time grand slam title winner has not played a match since losing in the second round at Wimbledon.
He also skipped the London Olympics.
The U.S. Open kicks off in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on August 27.
