A memorial vigil in Queens to honor the victims took place Friday night.

Sikhs, local leaders, and others gathered in Bellerose to pray and sign hymns.

The group also wants to raise awareness about the Sikh culture and show support for the community.

"It's impacted really really hard because everybody's in a deep grief still," said one attendee. "And all people are emotional and they want to know why it happened."

"The pain, you know, so we put out candles, prayers for everybody," said another. "Never going to happen again."

Thousands attended a memorial for the six victims in Oak Creek, Wisc. Friday.

Mourners walked alongside open caskets while photos of the victims flashed across a large video screen.

Holder spoke at the memorial and said an attack on Sikhs is an attack on the values of America.

"(It's) an act of terrorism, an act of hatred, a hate crime that is anathema to the founding principles of our nation," he said.

Six people were killed and four others injured when Wade Michael Page opened fire at the temple.

Page killed himself after being shot by a police officer.

Worshippers have returned and cleaned the temple but they plan on leaving a single bullet hole untouched as a reminder.

Several victims, including Wisconsin police officer and Brooklyn native Brian Murphy, remain hospitalized.
