Medical Examiner: Murdered Woman's Body Found In Queens Attic

The medical examiner determined Sunday that a woman whose body was found in a Queens attic was murdered, and authorities say a man who lived in the same residence committed suicide last month.
Police say Devendra Autar, 32, hung himself in 97-26 Van Wyck Expressway in Richmond Hill on July 20, and his body was found the following day.
Authorities say Autar's brother attempted to clean out the house on Saturday, followed a foul odor to the attic and then found the body of an unidentified woman in several plastic bags.
The dead man's brother called police and responding officers removed the body.
"That's very strange because you know it's it's a cool neighborhood and nothing bad you ever heard, you know," said one neighborhood resident.
"I'm really surprised but things like that happen everywhere I feel like but like that's just strange in this neighborhood," said another resident.
By Sunday afternoon, the medical examiner's office had not determined the identity or age of the woman, but said that she had died from stab wounds to the torso and neck.
Police said that Autar left a suicide note but would not release details of what the note said.
An investigation is ongoing.
