Summer Streets returned Saturday, giving New Yorkers and visitors a chance to bike, run, and walk through part of Manhattan traffic-free.
The annual event organized by the city DOT will take place again next Saturday, August 11, and Saturday, August 18.
Nearly seven miles of roads will be closed to cars and trucks between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.
"Every year I look forward to this because they close down the street and we can go where the cars go, down Park Avenue," said one participant.
"It's a lot of fun in general they give out some cool free stuff. So you can make a whole day out of it," said another participant.
This year, "Summer Streets" has added a 160-foot long zip line in Foley Square, as well as a rock climbing wall, art installations and dance classes.
"This is just a great opportunity for New Yorkers to come out, ride their bikes, take a walk, take a zip line, climb a wall. It's just a great way to come out and exercise and have some fun doing it and we have hundreds of activities," said DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan.
The route runs from the Brooklyn Bridge north to Central Park, along Lafayette Street and Park Avenue.
