Health Department To Continue Spraying For Mosquito Control

The city will take action to reduce the risk of the West Nile Virus.
The Health Department will use a helicopter to spray parts of Staten Island, the Bronx and Queens with a non-chemical larvacide to help control the number of mosquitoes.
Marshes and non-residential areas will be targeted for three days, starting Tuesday, weather permitting.
Mosquitoes transmit the virus.
People infected with the virus can develop severe illness, which may include high fever, vision loss and paralysis.
There currently are no medications to treat or prevent West Nile virus.
