Friends and family celebrated the life of Sylvia Woods, the "Queen of Soul Food," at an all-day wake Tuesday.
The all-day wake was held at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem.
The 86-year old passed away last Thursday after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She owned the famed Sylvia's Restaurant, which she started with her husband in 1962.
After the wake, a celebration of Woods' life was held, with speakers including family members, former President Clinton and Mayor Bloomberg.
"She brought the world to Harlem and she made sure that the world took Harlem back home with them," Mayor Bloomberg said.
"When people came to see me, from all over America and all over the world and they wanted to know what Harlem was like and I sent them to Sylvia's, they were made to feel welcome and at home," former President Clinton said.
Woods's funeral will be held Wednesday at the Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy.
