Artists took their skills to a whole new level at Coney Island's 22nd Annual Sand Sculpting Contest Saturday.
Giant piles of sand were transformed into everything from a "sand"-wich made of sand and seaweed to a sand replica of the New York Aquarium.
Sculptors had five hours to concoct their masterpieces, while music performances and giveaways were held on the boardwalk.
Winners in five categories took home $400 in cash prizes.
