Police Look For Man Who Allegedly Stabbed Woman After Failed Robbery Attempt

Police are searching for a man they said stabbed a woman on the Upper East Side as he tried to steal her purse.
Sources identified the victim as Sabatha Tirado.
They said she was attacked while walking along Second Avenue at East 86th Street just before noon Tuesday.
Police said the man threw some sort of liquid in her face and then stabbed her in the stomach with a knife when she would not give him her purse.
The woman was taken to the hospital.
Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The man is described as between 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. Authorities said he weighs 180 pounds and has a beard.
