A major three month-long construction project starting this weekend on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge could mean big ties ups for drivers.

The bridge connects to the Cross Bronx which is the main thoroughfare for drivers traveling from the Bronx to the George Washington Bridge.

One eastbound lane of the Alexander Hamilton will be closed around-the-clock until October.

It's expected to cause big backups and heavy traffic on alternate routes like the Hudson River Tunnels and the Staten Island crossings.

Westbound traffic should not be affected.

Crews will be working on steel reinforcement and deck replacement for the bridge.
