Police are looking for a man who they say tried to rape a teenager in Upper Manhattan.

Investigators say the man followed a 14-year-old girl into her building in Washington Heights around 8 a.m. on Friday and tried to rape her in the building's stairwell.

Officers say the girl was able to fight off the attack and the man ran away.

He's described as being 20 years old, 5'5" tall with a thin build, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white short sleeve collared shirt.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
