Congressman Charles Rangel's lead over State Senator Adriano Espaillat in the 13th congressional district has shrunk, according to the city Board of Elections' latest unofficial count of machine ballots from Tuesday's primary.

The numbers show Rangel's lead over State Senator Adriano Espaillat is now just 802 votes.

These unofficial numbers do not include roughly 2,100 absentee or affidavit ballots.

The board will start counting those ballots on July 5.

The Espaillat campaign claims there are as many as 3,000 paper ballots to be tallied.

Espaillat will challenge the count in State Supreme Court tomorrow.
