More than a dozen New York City Police Department detectives searched the New Jersey home of the man charged with killing Etan Patz Wednesday.

Police were searching for any evidence to corroborate Pedro Hernandez's confession.

Police said Hernandez confessed to the killing last month after authorities received a tip that he was involved in the disappearance.

Hernandez lived in Maple Shade, New Jersey with his wife and daughter.

Police only said that the search was part of an ongoing investigation.

Etan Patz went missing on his way to school in SoHo in 1979.

Hernandez told police he lured the boy to the basement of a convenience store by promising him a soda, then suffocated him and put his body in the trash.

There has been no evidence to back his claim.
