Authorities on Wednesday announced an arrest in a homicide that has remained unsolved for nearly 15 years.
Investigators say James Martin, 40, was extradited to New York Wednesday from a prison in Pennsylvania, where he had been serving time for killing his common-law wife.
He is charged with second-degree murder, rape and criminal sex act in the death of Marleny Cruz, 14.
Police say back in 1998, Marleny was found dead on Valentine Avenue in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx.
The city Medical Examiner ruled she had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death.
Last September, a Bronx detective identified Martin as the suspect through DNA evidence recovered from Marleny.
