Sources: Tigers' Delmon Young Arraigned On Hate Crime Assault Charge After Midtown Brawl

By: NY1 News

Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young was arraigned Friday on a charge of aggravated harassment as a hate crime after he was arrested early in the morning following a fight at a Midtown hotel, sources tell NY1.

He was released on $5,000 bail.

Sources say Young was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. following the incident at the Hilton New York on Sixth Avenue.

Young allegedly hit two people who were trying to give a homeless man money outside the hotel while yelling slurs about Jews.

Sources say Young was drunk and was taken to Roosevelt Hospital before being brought to the Midtown North precinct station house.

The Tigers are in town for a three game series against the Yankees starting tonight.

The team says it is aware of Young's arrest but is not commenting.
