Flood Watch In Effect As Spring Nor'easter Soaks City

New Yorkers are getting plenty of use out of their raincoats and umbrellas as a spring Nor'Easter continues to whip up some serious precipitation.

A flood watch remains in effect through Monday morning for the entire city as up to three inches of rain could fall in some parts.

Meteorologists say the worst of the storm will likely arrive early in the overnight hours and could bring wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour.

As of early Sunday evening, no major flooding had been reported.

The city's flash flood plan was activated on Thursday and crews began cleaning catch basins last week.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was preparing for what could be a rough morning commute Monday, especially with the possibility of snow affecting Metro-North service upstate.

"The MTA has put together it's emergency plans and preparations for the storm that we're supposed to receive later on today until tomorrow's commute," said MTA Executive Director Joseph Lhota. "The subway system, Long Island Railroad and Metro North as well as all of our bridges and tunnels are on alert with the concern of wind as well as the amount of water that we're about to receive."

The storm also forced the Mets to cancel their match against San Francisco Sunday.

They will play the game Monday as part of a single-admission doubleheader.

Amazin' fans with tickets can exchange them at Citi Field.

Tickets marked for Monday's game will also be valid.

First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m.

If fans can't make it Monday, they can also exchange their tickets for another 2012 Mets home game.
