NASA's prototype space shuttle Enterprise has begun its final journey to its new home at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in Manhattan.
The shuttle was rolled out from its hangar at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Virginia this morning.
It will be flown to John F. Kennedy International Airport next week atop NASA's specially outfitted 747.
It will be stored at the airport until June, when it will be brought to the Intrepid by barge.
Three historic aircraft were moved off the deck of the Intrepid yesterday to make room for the Enterprise.
The planes will be moved to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum upstate.
