The JetBlue captain charged with interfering with his flight crew a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Las Vegas is planning an insanity defense.
An attorney for 49-year-old Clayton Osbon filed a motion with plans to argue Osbon was insane at the time of his mid-air meltdown last month.
Osbon left the cockpit of the plane while screaming about religion and terrorism.
He was restrained by passengers, and the plane made an emergency landing in Amarillo, Texas.
Osbon remains jailed there.
He is awaiting a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.
