Mayor Vows To Strike Down Living Wage Bill

Mayor Michael Bloomberg had some strong words Friday against the City Council's controversial living wage legislation.
During his weekly radio show, Bloomberg said he will veto any living wage bill brought to him, and will take the City Council to court if his veto is overridden.
The Council's bill will require some projects that receive large city subsidies to pay at least $10 an hour plus benefits.
The mayor says the government shouldn't force businesses to pay wages that aren't sustainable.
"It's just not the government's business to do this and no matter how much you try to carve out certain industries and certain locations and certain sized businesses, you're going to hurt somebody. And we have done a good job of keeping New York City going in spite of the downtown and the country," Bloomberg said.
The mayor went on to say the city needs jobs and a living wage bill would keep businesses from moving in.
