Comic book fans are in superhero heaven today at a massive gathering of die-hards in Manhattan.

Marvel Comics legend and Manhattan native Stan Lee, who helped create Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, is the guest of honor at the New York Comic Book Marketplace convention.

Stan Lee Speaks

The event, being held at the Hotel Pennsylvania, showcases comics, toys, and other collectibles.

Despite no longer living in his native New York, it's clear that the 89-year-old Lee has a soft spot for Peter Parker's hometown.

"It's great meeting fans anywhere," Lee told NY1, "but to be in New York where I lived all of my life before moving to L.A. – it's like no matter how long you've been away, when you come back, you're home."

Lee is taking pictures with fans and signing autographs all day. The convention runs through 7 p.m.
