Tebowmania reached new heights Monday as the New York Jets introduced their new backup quarterback to the media.

Speaking to reporters in Florham Park, N.J., Tim Tebow, 24, answered more than a dozen questions about his new role with Gang Green.

The Jets traded draft picks to the Broncos for Tebow, who led Denver to the playoffs last year but lost his job when the Broncos signed future Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning.

When asked about the pressure of playing in the NFL's biggest market, Tebow said it's a factor that drives him to do better.

"Before every speech, every practice, every game, I get nervous. That excites me," Tebow said. "I play better when I have more on the line. When that feeling goes away, it's time to stop playing football."

Despite bringing in Tebow, the Jets insist Mark Sanchez will remain the team's starting quarterback.

Head coach Rex Ryan has suggested Tebow could play other positions, something he says he would be open to.

"First and foremost I've always said that I am a football player first and then a quarterback. Although ya know that is my dream, that's what I want to be and that is my dream, and that's what I believe I am, is a quarterback," Tebow said. "But however I can help the dream, however I can make a difference, however they can use me, I'll be open to it and work as hard as I can. Every time I step on that field I will give my whole heart to being the best Jet I can possibly be."

Tebow arrived in the city last week, and Jets merchandise with his name has been flying off the shelves.

At one point, Tebow dismissed rumors floated by reporters that his arrival in the Big Apple is just part of an off-season publicity attempt.

He also answered questions over his much publicized displays of faith, which some fans refer to as "Tebowing".

"I'm outspoken about my faith. I'm never ashamed of it," Tebow said.

Many fans say the Tebow trade should be viewed in historical context, as it's been 43 years since the New York Jets won, or even played, in a Super Bowl.
