Tim Tebow arrived in New Jersey Thursday for the first time as a Jets quarterback, and local fans flocked to sporting goods stores to buy merchandise with the newest Jets player's number.

Shortly after the quarterback arrived, Tebow fans at the Times Square Modell's store were able to get their hands on the newly-minted Gang Green merchandise, including $25 T-shirts that read "Tebow 15."

Businesses and fans alike hoped the quarterback will provide a spark to sales and the Jets' Super Bowl chances.

Gang Green completed the deal Wednesday night to bring Tebow to New York from Denver.

In exchange, the Jets are sending the Broncos fourth-round and sixth-round picks.

Jets management insists Mark Sanchez will remain the team's starting quarterback and Tebow said he is okay with that.

"They want me to come in and compete and get better as a quarterback and help the team any way possible. Whatever that role is, whatever that fashion is, I will do my best every time I get on that field. I give my heart and soul," Tebow said in a conference call.

Tebow became a fan favorite for leading the Broncos to several come-from-behind wins last season.
