The corruption case against former state senate majority leader Pedro Espada Jr. continued Friday as his long time employee was cross-examined.

Espada's lawyer tried to discredit former Soundview Health Care worker Maria Cruz, who testified Thursday that the former state senator spent the organizations funds lavishly.

An Espada family tree was also introduced as evidence, showing a vast network of relatives and friends that worked at the health clinic and sat on its board.

Pictures from the birthday party prosecutors say Espada paid for with health clinic money were displayed, and jurors saw the Puerto Rico ocean-view condo where the former lawmaker allegedly stayed at with clinic money.

Espada faces up to 10 years in prison for the embezzlement counts, and five-years for conspiracy charges.
