The State Department of Health ordered Peninsula Hospital Center in Queens to stop admitting patients Thursday because of safety concerns.

The cash-strapped hospital's clinical laboratory permit has been suspended for 30 days after failing an inspection.

The hospital must also cancel all surgeries and come up with a plan to transfer inpatients to other facilities.

For its part, the hospital says it is complying with the state's orders and is developing a plan to fix the problems in its lab as soon as possible.

A private company saved the hospital from shutting down last year.
