Electronics Company Makes Push To Put Tablets In Taxis

Tablet computers could soon be replacing those televisions in the back seat of the city's yellow cabs.

The San Francisco-based company "Square" is proposing a pilot program to put iPads or similar tablets in the back seats of 50 cabs.

Riders would be able to play games, use apps and swipe their credit cards.

The company is set to make a formal proposal to the Taxi and Limousine Commission next week.

The Taxi Workers Alliance says it hopes drivers can benefit from lower credit card transaction fees.
